| Does Cattaneo Bros. jerky contain preservatives? Cattaneo Bros. Turkey Jerky contains NO preservatives. We add Sodium Nitrite to our Beef Jerky to inhibit the growth of bacterial spores that cause botulism, a deadly food-borne illness. Nitrites act as an antimicrobial to prevent the growth of molds, yeasts and bacteria and are used in the production of most processed food in the U.S. food supply for public safety. None of Cattaneo Bros. products contain MSG (monosodium glutamate). Does Cattaneo Bros. Beef Jerky contain sugar? Original, Peppered, Mesquite and Extra-Hot flavors of Cattaneo Bros. Beef Jerky do NOT contain sugar. Our Teriyaki flavor has a little bit of sugar to make it sweet. See nutritional information for details. What is the best way to store my jerky? For those of you who don’t devour your jerky in one sitting, we recommend you store it in airtight containers in a cool, dry place. Once you open a bag of Cattaneo Bros. jerky keep it in a Tupperware container or Ziploc bag and store it in the refrigerator. Make sure the bag is closed tightly. If you don’t plan on eating your jerky right away be sure to keep the bag sealed in its packaging and store it in the refrigerator or freezer. Freezing is the best long-term storage method for jerky. Freezing jerky will not affect its taste. What is your top selling flavor? Original Thick-Cut Beef Jerky is our top selling flavor. We’ve been making it since 1947. Peppered Thick-Cut Beef Jerky is a close second. Mild Turkey Jerky, Original Thin-Cut and Original Cowboy-Cut are becoming more popular each day. Where is Cattaneo Bros. Jerky made? All of Cattaneo Bros. Jerky is made in our factory in San Luis Obispo, California. Is Cattaneo Bros. Jerky a healthy snack? Yes. Beef jerky is 97% fat free and turkey jerky is 98% fat free. Jerky gives you ZIP: zinc, iron and protein. These nutrients give your body the best kind of energy boost without sugar or carbohydrates. Why should I eat Cattaneo Bros. Jerky instead of other snacks like chips, candy, crackers and popcorn? Cattaneo Bros. Jerky is “real food.” Jerky is not an empty-calorie snack like chips, candy, crackers and popcorn. Sausage must be shipped Next Day Air. See the Shipping Page for more information. What’s the best way to cook sausage? Most Cattaneo Bros. sausage is best grilled, steamed or baked. See our Sausage section for cooking instructions for a specific sausage. How long will an unopened package of Cattaneo Bros. sausage last in my refrigerator? Cattaneo Bros. sausage can be refrigerated up to 7 days after the sell by date on the package. Once you open the package, cook and eat the sausage within 3 days. You can also freeze Cattaneo Bros. sausage in an unopened package or ziploc bag for up to four months. Do you have a cookbook for your sausage? We don’t have a cookbook, but we feature new recipes on our web site each month. Individual recipes are also available at our factory and are included in every sausage order we ship. Do you ship to Europe? No. At this time we only ship to U.S. States and Territories and APO/FPO addresses. Our Jerky fans in Europe have their friends and family order the jerky and ship it to them. How long will it take to get my package? This depends on package selection, and delivery charge paid. Check out shipping page for additional information. Is the Cattaneo Bros. Web Store secure? Yes. This site has security measures in place to protect your personal information when placing an order online. Our software uses a 1024 bit SSL model to encrypt the credit card details within the browser on the buyer's PC. Why doesn't the little padlock, indicating a secure connection, show up in my browser when I place an order? Rest assured, your information is being encrypted. (An encrypted item is scrambled so that no one between your computer and Cattaneo Bros.’s computers can read the message or the information you entered.) The reason the padlock icon provided on your browser may not appear locked (symbolizing an encrypted session) is because our Web site uses multiple frames to display information on your computer. Frames that display general information about the site are not encrypted. However, any screen that displays or requests information, like the gray payment information request frame, is encrypted. Will information I provide for an order be kept confidential? Yes. We do not share any personal information with any third parties. We use personal information only for maintaining our customer database. Do you provide plant tours? We are not able to provide tours throughout our entire facility for food safety purposes, but you can still see our jerky makers in action when you visit our retail counter inside the factory on weekdays. I have a specific food allergy. How can I find out more information on the ingredients in Cattaneo Bros. products? Cattaneo Bros. products do not contain any ingredients, which are commonly known to cause food allergies. All of our ingredients are listed on each bag of Cattaneo Bros. products.
